The Renaissance started late in France. After the Hundred Years War French recovered the lost territory from England. The union political situation was a favorable factor for the development of culture.
In the end of the 15th century, the French troops invaded Italy and viewed the Renaissance culture and art in Italy. After that, many Italian artists came over to France. Until the 16th century, the French painting art was well developed by the influence of the Italy painting art and Nederland art. But the French Renaissance was different from Italy. It was not established on humanism, but affected by the powerful imperial authority. It was prospered under the KingFrancois I’s aesthetic conceptions.
